| About
the 1975 FRA Railroad Map CD
This CD contains maps for all of the railroads
in the U.S. as published in 1975 by Federal Railroad Administration.
There are 490 maps and a table of contents. Each map consists
of two pages: the left-hand page is a map of the area showing
highways and railroads, the right-hand page shows only the
railroads.
As with the Official Guide CD sets, this CD
was created by scanning the original looseleaf pages into
digital form. The pages are then cleaned up to enhance and
sharpen the images. Pages are then converted into Adobe Acrobat
PDF format and reassambled into a book. The original table
of contents is retyped and hyperlinked to the individual pages
so that when you click on a map name the correct map is displayed
on the screen. Pages can be viewed, magnified, or printed
as you like.
The FRA Railroad MAP CD requires about 1 gigabyte
of hard drive space. The CD comes with an installer program
for Windows computers; other operating systems such as Macintosh
or Linux can copy the files onto their hard disk. It is not
recommended to open the images directly from CD because the
performance will be less than satisfactory.

2000 Pro or Windows XP is preferred), Macintosh or Linux.
- At least 256 MB of RAM, 512 MB is preferred.
