| About
the Official Guide CD Sets
Each set contains the full contents of the
Official Guide except for the front and back covers. The pages
are digitized from microfilm and then cleaned up to enhance
image sharpness. The pages are then converted into Adobe Acrobat
PDF format and reassambled into "book" form. The
original table of contents is retyped and hyperlinked into
the book - when you click on a railroad name the screen jumps
to that section of the book. Pages can be viewed, magnified,
or printed as you like.
Each set contains three CD's and an install
program to copy the contents onto your hard drive. A set requires
about 1.5 gigabytes of hard drive space -- unfortunately the
CD Guide cannot be run from the CD's directly because it would
take too long to load each page from CD.
Computer Requirements:
- Windows 98, Second Edition or better (Windows
2000 Pro or Windows XP is preferred), Macintosh or Linux.
- At least 256 MB of RAM, 512 MB is preferred.
- At least 2 GB of available hard drive space
- CD or DVD drive is required for installation
only
When ordering, please specify whether you
are using a Windows, Macintosh, or Linux-based computer.
